Paris - By water

There are over 37 remarkable bridges across the river Seine, each one pictures Paris’ exciting history. Many stories and secrets are hidden behind the bridges and their constructions.

The Pont Neuf is one of the oldest and most famous bridge in Paris. It linked already in the late middle ages the abby of Saint Germain and the Left Bank. For the 16th Pont Neuf was a master piece, very solid and for that time largely designed for commercial usage. It was also the first built without any houses which allowed the Parisians a free view over the Seine for the first time. 384 sculptured faces decorate the bridge and make it to an unique monument. In 1985 the modern artist Christo wrapped it up for two. Only the road was uncovered and the pictures went around the world.

The bridge is the most elegant bridge in Paris, built for the Universal Exibition in 1900. The sight, designed as one curve across the river, is well known for the Seine Nymphs made of copper.  These were just two exemples of parisian bridges. The diversity is impressive and at a stay in Paris one should not  oversee these beautiful sights. Source: ParisCityVision.com
