Vercors Regional Nature Park forms a natural limestone citadel stretching 186,000 hectares across the Isère and Drôme départements. Its wild, grandiose and mysterious scenery is characterised by a wealth of natural treasures including deep gorges, caves, abysses, sheer cliffs, high plateaux, lush valleys, mountain meadows, forests and a rich flora and fauna. It is also crossed by some breathtakingly beautiful roads like Les Grands Goulets in the Drôme, and Les Gorges de la Bourne and Le Canyon des Écouges in the Isère. Lovers of wide, open spaces and botany will be in heaven, as will hikers thanks to the Park's 2,850 km of footpaths, and climbers with the endless choice of limestone cliffs! Vercors Park is also a top destination for winter sports: ski resort such as Villard-de-Lans and Lans-en Vercors have a great range of snow-based activities on offer.

Base for French Resistance
The Vercors mountains were a base for the French Resistance during the Second World War and today the area is dotted with sites and museums dedicated to the memory of this heroic anti-occupation movement: Les Chemins dela Liberté, a trail taking in 10 historic sites and 60 memorial sites, the Resistance Museum in Vassieux-en-Vercors
and the Vercors Resistance Memorial at Chau Pass.

There is not a commune, not a forest, not a clearing, not a mountain of the Vercors, which has not been the scene of fighting or acts of resistance.
Today there are many places of memory where men and women have fallen, where clandestinely groups of resistance fighters have been living, where parachutes have occurred.
